This page explains, in plain English, what Cut Genie does with your information. If anything is unclear, email hello@cutgenie.co.uk.
Your videos
Cut Genie is a desktop app. Your videos are opened, edited, listened to (speech recognition) and exported on your own computer. They are never uploaded to us.
When you use Cut Genie AI
- For smart features (planning edits, graphics, big key words, shorts, words for your post, choosing stock footage), the app sends the words spoken in your video with their timings, and what you typed, to our server, which passes them to our AI provider (Anthropic) to get an answer.
- For picture features (describing B-roll, keeping people in frame), it also sends a few small still frames, never the video.
- We don't keep this content after answering, and our AI provider doesn't use it to train its models.
- You can use Cut Genie without the AI; the simpler built-in features work entirely on your computer.
Your account
We store your email address, your plan and how many AI requests you've used, so we can sign you in and give you what you pay for. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details.
Early access sign-ups
If you join the early access list, we keep your email address (and what you make, if you told us) only to tell you when Cut Genie is available. Ask us and we'll delete it.
Stock footage
When the app looks for stock footage, it sends short search words (like “kitchen”) through our server to the stock library.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you at any time by emailing hello@cutgenie.co.uk. If you're in the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
